The first DP-PMI class has been selected and will start in January 2014. It will provide a fully-funded 4-year training programme in quantum technologies for up to 12 students per year, leading to the award of a PhD degree. A limited number of places will be available for EU nationals who are not UK residents, and for non-EU international students. A broadly-based initial training year, covering experiment and theory and including disciplines from Physics to Engineering, Materials and Computer Science, will be followed by three years of research in one of the Centre's research groups. Hi all, today's meeting is the first of the new year, and new years bring new year's resolutions, of course. So I thought instead of a talk today we might instead share our "research resolutions" for the year --- stuff we're each hoping to accomplish this year. This might be something you're hoping to do in an existing research project, or a new project you're hoping to start, or even just a new subject you want to learn about. Maybe something you're hoping to get into that couldn't even be done by year's end. With any luck, maybe someone else in the group will be interested in the same topic or maybe have some useful advice. Best, -joe
