This is done by a very short introduction to "concentration of measure" by studying the mutual information of simple systems.

Hi all, Next week's talk will be at 5pm on Tuesday in HIT K51 by Stefan Hengl. See you there, Roger Title: Light Cones in Quantum Information Abstract: A priori, non-relativistic quantum mechanics does not set a speed limit to the propagation of information, correlation, or perturbation. However, a famous result from mathematical physics shows that, under weak assumptions about the underlying system, there is indeed a system-inherent bound on the maximal velocity. This so-called Lieb-Robinson bound (LRB) can be an extremely powerful tool in proofs in various research fields. In the talk I will motivate the LRB, briefly review recent publications, and report about progress in Johan's and my project.

Hi all. Today, Daniel Zeiter will show us his work done in his master thesis. He will present us his graphical user interface implemented in Java emedded in an Eclipse plugin. Title: A graphical development environment for quantum algorithms Speaker: Daniel Zeiter Time/Place: IFW E42/1400h Project link: http://people.vis.ethz.ch/~zeiter/gqcl QCL online Webinterface: http://galliard.ch/i6/pub/gqcl.cgi Abstract: This thesis develops a graphical integrated development environment for quantum algorithms. It defines a graphical representation based on the quantum gate model. This graphical model can then be translated to a quantum programming language or any other intermediate form that a quantum simulator or quantum computer understands. After execution the results and intermediate steps are displayed in the development environment. The developed environment can be used in the fields of education and research to deepen the understanding of how quantum algorithms work. Gruass, Viktor
