D-PHYS Network Downtime due to Switch Upgrade in HPZ

The [1]Informatikdienste will replace the vital network switch in the
HPZ building which leads to a network downtime in the HPZ building at
* Thursday, 24th of May 2007 from 17:00 to about 18:30
Due to the fact that several vital D-PHYS servers are located in HPZ
this means the file servers as well as the mail and web servers won't
be available during that time. We recommend to stop working before
17:00 on that day.

Samba (SMB) Upgrade on all File Servers

A security upgrade of [1]Samba is necessary on most of our file
servers. The file servers with home, group and astro drives (foostock,
schibe, and teutates) will be updated quite soon this week on:
* Tuesday, May the 15th, 2007 between 20:00 and 22:00
During this time access to the home and group directories via SMB/CIFS
will have some short interruptions. This will affect drives on
winhome, windata, machome, macdata, unixhome, unixdata, and astro if
accessed using SMB/CIFS -- which is usually the case on all Windows
workstations as well as Mac and Linux workstations not managed by us.
Additionally, the print service may be interrupted for a moment or
two, too.
