Title: Tensor network decoding for stabilizer codes based on the syndrome trellis representation
Abstract: Quantum error correction has become a crucial component for achieving fault-tolerant quantum computing. However, one key challenge that remains is the development of effective decoders. In this work, we introduce a novel approach for constructing an optimal decoder for quantum error-correcting codes, leveraging the concept of syndrome trellises. Our method translates the trellis representation of a stabilizer code into a tensor network decoder, allowing for the incorporation of degeneracy of quantum errors. As a result, this decoder is expected to achieve optimal error correction thresholds.
