Dear all
The NCCR QSIT organizes periodically a 'Special Lecture for Students'. This semester the lecture will be given by Eugene Demler from Harvard University / ITS ETH Zurich.
With best regards, Ilona Blatter

Exploring topological states with synthetic matter Eugene Demler Harvard University & ITS ETH Zurich
Abstract: These lectures will provide a basic introduction to topological states of matter. We will discuss topological invariants such as Zak phase in 1d systems, Chern number and Z2 topological invariant in 2d systems. We will consider generalization of topological invariants for periodically driven systems. Possible experimental realizations of topological states with ultracold atoms and photons will be reviwed.
