Dear All,
Next weeks research day on Tuesday will be at the Computer Science Building.
Speaker: Lidia del Rio Title: (The adventures of) thermalisation and entropy in (exciting) Heisenberg spin chains.
Time: 5 pm Place: IFW D42
Abstract:
I will try to explain what I did during my first six months at ETH (my master project). I studied the way several entropy measures evolve as a very simple system thermalises. It will be a very informal talk made of little, nice, apparently uncorrelated bits: - our friendly entropy measures (with a lousy analogy by request), - thermalisation of a system (mandatory good analogy here), - spin chains and Hamiltonians (hopefully no analogies), - my first initial embryonic preliminary results. It should be accessible to everyone - actually Renato seems to think that this could be a good introduction to Hamiltonians for computer scientists. On a different subject, there will be good weather in southern Switzerland next Tuesday. Probably one of the last days of good weather this year and certainly one of the last days before the beginning of the semester. ' just saying.
Cheers,
Dejan
