Hi all,
next week we'll start with the meeting at its new time on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm in HIT E41.1. Leo Wossnig is visiting Raban from UCL and will give a talk on "Randomized methods and quantum computation". The abstract is below.

Title: Randomized methods and quantum computation Abstract: In this talk I will introduce some of the fundamental ideas of randomized numerical linear algebra, based on early results for matrix multiplication and low rank approximations and will then explain how these can be used in various scenarios. In particularly, I will recap our own results for randomized Hamiltonian simulation, and explain how these methods can be extended to obtain so called quantum inspired methods for machine learning, which have lately experienced high attention in the quantum computation community.
