Hi all,
two announcements from Pauli, one official, one unofficial.
*Official:
Paul Erker will present his master's thesis Thursday, 13 November at 17:15 in E41.1. Here's the title and abstract.
Title: The Quantum Hourglass - Approaching time measurement with Quantum Information Theory
Abstract: In this thesis a general non-relativistic operational model for quantum clocks called quantum hourglass is devised. Taking results from the field of Quantum Information Theory the limitations of such time measurement devices are explored in different physical and information-theoretic scenarios. It will be shown for certain cases that the time resolution of the quantum hourglass is limited by its power consumption.
*Unofficial:
Members of scientific collective The Bay, 369.music and their friends in cooperation with Netzwerkbar want to celebrate Republic Day of Kazakhstan. Because none of us has ever been to Kazakhstan, we will make it in our own way. The only thing we can promise is great music and cold beer. Come and join us! We'll start at 2000 with Maja and Spirat. Later at 2130 The Jazzi'DöPPs will take over the stage playing a few jazz standards alternated with some modern pieces. Next at 2300 Hangover Jam will entertain us with some progressive reggae. And at the end, probably after midnight, Big Tuna and the Penguins will take us to world of punk jazz. It gonna be loud!
Entry: free When: Saturday 25.10.2014 Where: Netzwerkbar, Bulachstrasse 7
