Here's a brief abstract for tomorrow's talk.
Title: Quantum asymmetric-key encryption schemes
One of quantum information's biggest contributions to cryptography is unconditional key distribution and its consequences for symmetric cryptosystems. Asymmetric-key encryption schemes are however widely spread in the classical world, and have some practical advantages over symmetric schemes, although they only offer computational security.
We explore quantum asymmetric-key encryption schemes, i.e., schemes which make use of a quantum state as encryption key, and allow the encryption of classical or quantum messages. We focus on information-theoretical security and discuss issues such as the (dis)advantages over classical schemes, optimality, security, message/key ratio.
