Slow performance of file server foostock

Since this morning we experience a massive performance degradation on
the file and print server foostock. This is a follow up problem of the
upgrade from [1]yesterday.
At around 09:00 the problem started to increase more and forced me to
reboot the server at 09:30. This gave an interruption of about 10
minutes for all the file (home and group directories) and print
services on foostock. This reboot helped a little bit, but did not
solve the problem completely. Currently I am working to solve this,
which will need some more reboots of the server.
We apologise for the inconvenience we caused by this.
Update: Installation of a patched kernel and reboot done, all services
are up and running since 17:40. As far as it looks now, the
performance is again back to normal.

Maintenance file server foostock

On Sunday, 24. June 2006 between 16:00 and 18:00 we will be upgrading
the [1]operating system from [2]FreeBSD [3]6.0-RELEASE to
[4]6.1-RELEASE on the server foostock. During this time all home and
group directories (winhome, machome, unixhome, windata, macdata,
unixdata) and our print service will not be available.

Again crash fileserver foostock

At around 03:10 this evening our fileserver foostock, which holds all
the home and group directories and our print service, crashed again
without any reason. After a manual reset (which had to be done in the
data center), the server is back online since 07:10. The background
filesystem check is still running, so performance will be degraded for
some more hours.
We apologise for the inconvenience we caused by this.

Microsoft Security Bulletin for June 2006

Last night [1]Microsoft has released the [2]Security Bulletin Summary
for June, 2006. There are 8 critical, 3 important and 1 moderate
update.
If automatic update is not activated yet, then you must visit

Spamfilter Integrated into Mailing Lists Manager

Especially mailing lists have been suffering from a big load of spam
during the last few weeks. Most users didn't notice it, but the
mailing list moderator did. So the last weeks we tested the
intergration of our spam filtering infrastructure into our mailing
list software using the [1]SpamAssassin plugin for Mailman.
