ALPS 1.3.1,dirloop_sse: symmetry breaking

Hi all, I'm trying to calculate the Neel temperature in an Heisenberg antiferromagnet and wonder how the symmetry breaking is considered in dirloop_sse: Do I have to define the direction of symmetry breaking by including a small (small enough to not affect the results) magnetic field? If so, is there a way to do simulations with transverse staggered magnetic fields in ALPS/diroop_sse? (the <HAMILTONIAN name="spin"> node in models.xml looks like it only allows for a uniform transverse field Gamma) How would one specify this field in case that the unit cell is not primitive? What does dirloop_sse calculate below the Neel temperature in case no direction of symmetry breaking is specified (do one get an average over many different directions?) ? Alps 1.3.1 spinmc compile problem

I'm trying to build the latest version of ALPS, and I'm primarily interested in the classical monte carlo app. I built the new version of the libraries ok, but then when I tried to compile the spinmc app, I got the error below. It looks like it's referring to some funny lapack function from what I can tell, so I think I should mention that I did not build the libraries with lapack support (though the configure script claimed that I'd be ok to compile classical monte carlo). Monte Carlo - Extending Sweeps

Hi, I've been working with the ALPS classical monte carlo program, and according to the ALPS website/wiki, it should be possible to take a finished simulation, edit number of SWEEPS in the simulation_name.task#.out.xml files, set the status of the task from "finished" to "running" in the simulation_name.out.xml file and then do "spinmc simulation_name.out.xml". However, the program immediately throws an exception saying "Cannot change parameter SWEEPS". I determined that the exception is being thrown from line 300 of worker.C in alps-1.3.1/src/alps/scheduler/. Is this a feature that just never got implemented or am I going about the procedure incorrectly? Also, could ALPS (or does ALPS already) include a feature that allows it to run in a mode where it automatically advances to the next task if the current task has converged in all measurements, even if the full range of sweeps has not been performed? DMRG Truncation Error

Hi, I am using the ALPS DMRG code to look at a 1D system. I am comparing the results for small system sizes with the results from exact diagonalisation to verify them. The values match to 5 - 6 decimal places in most cases. However I always get a truncation error or 1. Is this normal behavior? I am using ALPS 1.3.1. Many Thanks, Niall.

To whom it may concern: Almost every file can not be downloaded form http://www.comp-phys.org/lugano04/Talks.html except Wang-Landau sampling(QWL.pdf) and Path Integrals and Quantum Monte Carlo (qmc.pdf). Another files are "Not Found. Requested URL /lugano04/Talks/IntroToCpp.pdf was not found on this server. To whom it may concern: After I met some problems about using Alps application. I re-installed my linux system and all softwares. So I found why I could not use alps to calculate. There are errors in the process of installing Alps Application 1.3. And I could not install Alps Application 1.3 to my system.
