Dear ADRIAN I used Sz_total=N(S1-S2),as an input parameter but this thing just speed up the calculation and it doesn't any effect on the output,means that with this input parameter i have result that it doesn't differ with the result that earlier i have got.i want to achieve the results that earlier are achieved in the following paper, *(SK Pati, S Ramasesha, D Sen - Physical Review B, 1997 - APS)* they study the ferrimagnetic chain and present the ground state energy and some correlations. they consider N cell that each cell consist of two spin(s1,s2). Hamiltonian is H=sum_i (S2_i . S1_i+1)+(S1_i.S2_i -1) i counts the cells and it is form 0 to N. the results that i achieve,two digite concur with theirs results. I don't what must i do that i have a better results. Dear All I'm making my first experiments with Alps... I want to use DMRG for ferrimagnetic chain,but i have some problems. First,in the dmrg steps because the chain don't have the symmetry between left and right halves,the density matrices for these two halves should be constructed at every iteration of the calculation. Second,I think that it isn't exist spin parity symmetry. How i can do these? Thanks in advance zhian

Customizing the Hamiltonian in the Spinmc Application

Hi, I'm trying to add a biquadratic term of the form K*(S_i . S_j)^2 to the Hamiltonian of a classical spin system consisting of Heisenberg spins. Also, I'm working on a frustrated lattice, so I'm only using local updates. My thinking at the moment is that I need to primarly make changes to the functions "bond_energy" and "bond_energy_change" in the on.h file. However, that leaves me with two questions. 1) What would be the best (i.e. least obtrusive) way to pass the parameter K into those functions? At the moment they only seem to be able to handle two-spin interactions. Could I perhaps make the code in the on.h file aware of the simulation parameters directly (i.e. such that the code double K = parms["K"] works)? Or, should I make K a field/property of the ONMoment class? Dear Alps users, I'm running a simulation with loop application and an 1D Chain of Heisenberg spins. I'm interested in the correlation study between two of these spins as a function of the temperature and the interaction parameters. I need to run the simulation to 300 parameters (temperature + parameters) I really need to write in the parameter file 300 lines? Or is it possible to do it in another way? specific heat measurements

Hello, I looked at the alps tutorial pages and it says that the looper code calculates specific heat. I ran the looper code from alps version 1.3.3. I looked at the task.out files and specific heat was not listed anywhere. Am I missing something? -thanks, Brian

Finding the site at a particular set of coordinates

Hi - I'm trying to write a custom measurement in the classical spin mc code, and I'd like to be able to have the alps lattice library tell me the site that is at a given location relative to another site. More specifically, I'd like to start with pair of sites, indices i and j, then compute the vector v=(r_j-r_i) (this I already know how to do using the coordinates function). Then, I'd like to go to some other site, k, and figure out the index, l, of the site at r_k + v (i.e. I want (r_l-r_k) = (r_j-r_i)). Is there a general way to do this using the alps lattice library or will I have to write special code for the particular lattice that I'm using?
