construct_matrix in update.h in the Hybridization Expansion

Hi, I look through the source code of hybridization in alps/applications/dmft/qmc and have a question: The template function construct_matrix in update.h is defined but NEVER used in the code. I use grep to search for that: grep construct_matrix * -R The result is only the definition in update.h. Now the question is: How is the matrix M (inverse of hybridization function) constructed? M is only initialized in the constructor of HybridizationRun but it is never assigned to any value after that. How is the code working without defining M? Thank you, -- Kuang-Shing Chen

Estimating computing resources for the simulation

Dear Mr. Troyer, I want to estimate how much memory and CPU time the program need to run fulldiag and sparcediag. 1) As I understood, in fulldiag, the main limitation is memory, which have to store the matrix, which is diagonalized. Am I right? 2) What about sparcediag? Does the program also store the matrix, or just generate its elements? Do you think it is possible to find few lowest eigenvalues for the Hubbard model on the 18 sites, with 9 particles (say 4 spins up and 5 down)? 3) Is it possible to have a degeneracy of eigenvalue in sparcediag? 4) How to extract column of eigenvalues from h5-file after running fulldiag? Compilation error related to boost_mpi

Hi! I would like to build ALPS 2.0.2 on my Debian Linux system which has Boost++ 1.46 libraries installed. However, I get the build error shown below. I have attached CMakeCache.txt. Hi! I'm trying the tutorial examples, but I always get this error message when I attempt to start a simulation. Would this be an error with a known solution? Dear all, I have installed the last stable release of the alps (2.02-r5790) but I have a problem while trying to execute standard applications : for example, when running the tutorial mc-03-magnetization/tutorial3a.py (but also other tutorials) I get the error message parsing task files ... Did not parse to end of string 'DEPLETION' I think that this issue is related to the lattice library, but I have not been able to figure out the exact origin. Any help would be really appreciated! Determine good structures to represent ideal crystal 3. Convert lattice into Ising-like model 4. Replace atoms {A,B} with spins, Sigma={-1,+1} 5. Consider a set of “figures” .Define local correlation function as the product of spins 6. Dear All, I have found here: http://alps.comp-phys.org/mediawiki/index.php/Tutorials:MeasureHOWTO a way to measure an observable (while working with QMC code) which is related to the basis in which we measure by some simple formula: sqrt (N). But i still have some question regarding implementing a non-standard situation. I would not like to go into really ugly details, so I have created a self contained example: I understood that: symbols "N" that appearing in that example are labels of quantum numbers defining the basis: if basis was enumerated by a few quantum numbers then the config should look like this: <SITEBASIS name="boson"> <QUANTUMNUMBER name="S" min="0" max="b1"/> <QUANTUMNUMBER name="C" min="0" max="b2"/> <OPERATOR name="Milka" matrixelement="1"> <CHANGE quantumnumber="S" change="-1"/> <CHANGE quantumnumber="C" change="1"/> </OPERATOR> </SITEBASIS> In this case operator "Milka" creates one bar of chocolate using one unit of sugar? Another issue is what makes a correct expression? I suppose that parsing of these things is done by "expression" binary. Which functions are supporter by this parser? sqrt(N) is supported but BesselJ(N) may not be, I also saw different examples of random number generators - matrixelement="random_gaussian(1)" (or sth like that). The other question: if matrix elements are not constant, a simple function but "conditional" in nature: Milka_{(S1,C1), (S2,C2)} = 1 is \lambda(S1,C1,S2,C2) is true and -7 otherwise then I suppose: <SITEBASIS name="boson"> <QUANTUMNUMBER name="S" min="0" max="b1"/> <QUANTUMNUMBER name="C" min="0" max="b2"/> <OPERATOR name="Milka" matrixelement=" f(S1,C1,S2,C2)-7*(1-f(S1,C1,S2,C2))"> <CHANGE ...> </OPERATOR> </SITEBASIS> will do provided f evaluates to 1,0 iff \lambda is true,false for any C1,C2,S2,S1.
