ALPS on ubuntu 11.10

Welcome everyone, It's my first mail to this mailing list, I'm using that's kind of thing first time so if my behave is unpropriate please don't take it offensive. I'd like to ask if anyone of you tried to run ALPS on ubuntu 11.10. I've tried to build ALPS, after doing everyting under "Get dependent libraries and tools on Debian GNU/Linux (sid)", as it was on the wiki: http://alps.comp-phys.org/mediawiki/index.php/Download_and_install_ALPS_2#B… but I've get some serious problem. When I execute "make install" I get something like that: CMake Error at lib/pyalps/cmake_install.cmake:42 (FILE): file INSTALL cannot find "/opt/alps/lib/pyalps/pyhdf5_c.so". Call Stack (most recent call first): cmake_install.cmake:94 (INCLUDE) I've manage to workaround it by disabling #INCLUDE("/opt/alps/lib/pyalps/cmake_install.cmake") in cmake_install.cmake and executing it manualy before using "make install". Everything was build with success but when I tried to run some example scripts like this one there: http://alps.comp-phys.org/mediawiki/index.php/ALPS_using_Python python reported that he (it?) couldn't find pyalps.... how to read results during run

Dear all, when performing simulations with xml option I can read in the browser the results during the run and eventually stop the run. I do not see this possibility with option hdf5. Is there any chance to do it? As the simulations are performed on remote cluster I would like to look at the results on my pc. How can I do it without installing the whole alps package but only with alpspython? Regards Tadeusz

Problems compiling alps-2.0.3-src-with-boost

Dear all, I'm just about to compile and to install alps-2.0.3 from source with libboost included. Compilation succeeds without problems. But unfortunately 'make test' results in 4 failed tests: Test project /scratch/sinder/alps-2.0.3-src-with-boost/alps Start 1: ising_single 1/99 Test #1: ising_single .....................***Failed 0.32 sec Start 2: loop_single 2/99 Test #2: loop_single ......................***Failed 0.19 sec Start 3: exchange 3/99 Test #3: exchange .........................***Failed 0.25 sec Start 40: lattice_constant_test 40/99 Test #40: lattice_constant_test ............***Failed 0.08 sec As I don't have experience with the Cmake building system I'd like to ask for help where I should start looking. Hi, I just changed to python and am using alps version 2.0. So, i first started the first basic tutorial using python and everything was going smoothly until i reached " result_files = pyalps.getResultFiles(prefix='parm1') ". Dear all ALPS users I want to calculate the density distribution of hubbard model with external potential in finite temperature using the "fulldiag" command, the main parameters are ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ......... t=1.0 CONSERVED_QUANTUMNUMBERS="Sz,Nup,Ndown,N" MEASURE_LOCAL[n_density]=n MEASURE_LOCAL[n_up]=n_up MEASURE_LOCAL[n_down]=n_down {T=1.0} {T=10.0} ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It can get different thermodynamic quantities (e.g. free energy, specific heat) in different T, but the quantities I defined above keep the same in the two tasks. I can't find the problem in this test. Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks.
