Title: The general structure of mean field spin glass models
Abstract:
Mean field spin glass models have been studied in theoretical physics by
the replica trick and the Parisi Ansatz. In the last years, some very
powerful and simple methods of interpolation have been developed, so
that most features of these systems have been rigorously established.
The purpose of the talk is to give a general overview of methods and
results. We will stress the main ideas, by avoiding any heavy technical
apparatus. In particular, we will discuss the existence of the infinite
volume limit, and the emergency of the phenomenon of spontaneous replica
symmetry breaking. Most of this work has been developed in collaboration
with Fabio Lucio Toninelli.
