Dear All,
I am having trouble installing ALPS applications on a Ubuntu 8.04 system.
Installing the libraries is not a problem. Installing the applications wouldn't be, if I were not interested in including the lapack libraries in the installation.
I've followed the instructions for the setup and installation of the applications, where it states that adding the option --with-lapack=-lLIB when running configure "specifies the library files for the LAPACK libraries".
When I do this, I get an output to the effect of "configure: WARNING: Unrecognized options: --with-lapack". The same occurs if I include the option "--with-lapack-dir". Essentially, my question is what am I doing wrong here? Surely the option should be recognised by the configure file?
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Andrea
ps I suspect my problem has something to do with this:
https://webmail.phys.ethz.ch/pipermail/comp-phys-alps-users/2008-May/000253....
but I can't find much other information out there.
Dear Andrea,
You have to specify the options --with-lapack=... and --with-lapack- dir=... for the configure script of the ALPS LIBRARY, not for the ALPS APPLICATIONS.

Dear Synge,
Thanks for your reply, that solved my problem!
I take this opportunity to suggest making the installation instructions a little clearer. I definitely got the impression I should have been specifying those options in when installing the ALPS applications, seeing as this is what is described in the Setup and Installation (Applications) web page.
Thanks for the nice work,
Andrea
