Just use ccmake to turn the following off:

ALPS_BUILD_APPLICATIONS ALPS_BUILD_DEVELOPER_TOOLS ALPS_BUILD_DOC ALPS_BUILD_EXAMPLES ALPS_BUILD_FORTRAN ALPS_BUILD_TESTS

and you will get a slim build.
