Please look at the ALPS 1.3 tools tutorial http://alps.comp-phys.org/mediawiki/index.php/Tutorials:ToolsHOWTO (especially Examples 3 and 4 in this wiki page) to learn how to write plot.xml for VECTOR_AVERAGE.
