Hello, Sometimes QMC worm code (used on Bose-Hubbard) terminates with the following error: here come first earlier succesful simulations then ... Created run 85 remote on Host ID: 84 Created run 86 remote on Host ID: 85 Created run 87 remote on Host ID: 86 Created run 88 remote on Host ID: 87 All processes have been assigned Checking if Simulation 1 is finished: not yet, next check in 120 seconds ( 0% done). q = -0 state1 = 0 state2 = 0 bond_type = 0 zero matrix element in remove_jump application called MPI_Abort(MPI_COMM_WORLD, -2) - process 67 Could somebody advice what I can do? Zinc blende

Dear all, I have some probelm to make an XML for fcc lattice of Zinc blende. I had simulated it using Heisenberg model S=1/2, but it can't synchron with the experiment. Worm Algorithm Question

Hi, I am implementing the worm algorithm for the Bose Hubbard model. On of the "worm moves" is to insert a kink after the MASHA head this can cause a reconnection of the worm. I think that this move is possible only when there is a world line in the target site, other wise there is nothing to connect to. I tried to see were this condition is implement in the code but I failed to find it. I'll be grateful if someone can direct me to the location of this condition in the code, or tell me were my reasoning is wrong (may be there is some other way to close the world line). I have boost and lapack in my home space. I am running Ubuntu 9.10. Sorry for the previous message concerning problem with running application after smooth installation of 1.3.5. One should not overwrite ALPS but rather delete the previuos version and then make install of the new one. It works without problems. Hello, Both alps library and applications-20091201 install smoothly under SL54 with boost_1_41_0, make examples and make tests show nothing to be worried. ------------------------------------------------- However when typed: $ parameter2xml parm1b I get: parameter2xml: symbol lookup error: /home/tadek/ALPS/lib/libalps.so.0: undefined symbol: _ZNK5boost15program_options29value_semantic_codecvt_helperIcE5parseERNS_3anyERKSt6vectorISsSaISsEEb ------------------------------------------------------- On the same system the version 1.3.4 works fine. Application of the DMRG code to a single impurity Kondo problem

Dear Alps users / developers, in order to estimate the finite-size error of my exact diagonalization results, I tried to apply the DMRG code of Alps to a single impurity Kondo problem (one-dimensional tight-binding electrons with a spin-1/2 impurity coupling to the middle of the chain). As a first step, I wanted to compare the results for a small system with L=7 (i.e. 8 lattice sites including the impurity). Since the exact diagonalization was done at half filling (N=L), I would also like to use a fixed electron number N in the DMRG calculation. For this reason, I chose the "alternative fermion" site-basis with the quantum number N. Because of the Heisenberg interaction between the electrons and the localized spin, the quantum numbers N_up and N_down of the "fermion" site-basis are no good quantum numbers anyway. Despite a lot of trying, I was unable to get the DMRG program running. I'm wondering if there is still some error in my input files (see below) or if I'm trying something which is not supported in the current version. The tutorials found on the homepage, the talks on Alps, and the collection of previous questions did not help me to solve the problem. I have to add that I have little experience with DMRG, so I might be making a fundamental mistake here (does it matter for the code to which site of the chain the impurity couples?). To be more specific, the DMRG program (Alps version 1.3.2) aborts right after starting with the message "Site basis for type 2 not found and no default exists".
