did some of you receive this email, too? We should discuss this at the next LIFE@ETH meeting. My initial reactions are that (a) the last workshop was driven by European desires to contribute the HWO and this is likely similar here, and (b) I would like to get into the driver seat and act and not react to external requests and timelines. Not sure this workshop is serving our needs in the best possible way; and, as some of you know, there are some first ideas of organizing a conference around LIFE fall this year.

Following the "R&D for Space-Based HCI in Europe" workshop (https://hcieurope.sciencesconf.org/?lang=en) held in Paris, France, in March 2024, we are currently organizing a second edition this year on 12-14 May 2025, which we will hold at MPIA/Heidelberg.

The first edition was a good opportunity to meet and exchange on ongoing projects and ideas concerning R&D on space-based, ground-based, visible-light and near-IR direct imaging at high contrast in orbit around HWO and LIFE.

For this second edition, we would like to focus on more concrete organizational and strategic aspects with the aim of establishing a European roadmap for space-based HCI R&D developments.

Once we have covered the latest developments since last March, the aim will be to Identify, prioritize and detail the key R&D developments we want to take forward, set up an organization to do this, and address the issue of funding strategy. The program for the two days will consist of a minority of overview presentations, but the aim is to have an open discussion and teamwork format. A more detailed agenda and practical information about the workshop will be sent out in the coming weeks. For planning purposes, we would kindly ask for your answers in the following Google form: https://forms.gle/9E4vZ9m5tksmiw6o9. If you already know that you will not or cannot attend, please provide an answer as soon as possible, ideally before February 15th, 2025.

Due to limited capacity, this is a personal invitation, but if you have someone else from your group or country who you think has an appropriate profile for this workshop, please don't hesitate to nominate them with a brief justification. Due to the discussion-based nature of the workshop agenda, we do not currently plan to offer a remote participation option.
