Hi all,

today's group meeting is at the usual time 4pm and new usual place, J52. We'll hear from Paul Raymond-Robichaud of University of Montreal on the following topic:

-----

Title: Parallel lives vs Parallel universes

Abstract:
In the Everettian framework, two important questions can be asked:
"Is the universal wavefunction a complete description of reality?"
and "Are the parallel universes described by it local?".
I shall argue that it is not logically possible to answer both of
these questions positively. I shall also argue that a new framework
is necessary to address these issues.
In this talk, I shall present the mathematical requirements for
a purely local theory of quantum mechanics and propose new axioms
that meet these requirements. The main advantage of this approach
is its mathematical simplicity and elegance.
